I'm having this dilemma with a woman that i like. She happens to be russian, but my parents got this neverending attitude about "mailorder brides", how horrible russians are and how much of a scam all of the girls are.

In face she is a genuine girl, has good relations with her family, we have good conversations and I don't look at her as a "mail order bride", I look at her as a potential partner.

I am married and my wife is 25, and I am 33. She's stunningly beautiful and very youthful, and we been married for two years now. However anywhere we go out in public settings like restaurant, cafes, mall, people make horrible comments, and I can hear it, so can she. A group of teens both guys and girls whispered among themselves and called her a "who-e". While we were shopping, two girls said "omg, that girl needs to put on weight"(my wife is 115 pounds and 5 ft 7.5inches and is toned), and some guy asked me if she is a "mail-order" cause he overheard her speaking Ukrainian(her native country) on a cell phone.
She is NOT a mail order bride. I met her in France actually, and she has her own job here in the U.S as chem engineer.
I am sick of these comments, and I dunno what to do. I feel like beating down the next person that says something, but I don't want trouble, and my wife does not want me to react with force, but I know she feels sad from the comments.

I have been married to a Russian lady for the past 10 years. Our marriage is great, I'm not complaining, she is a housewife and she takes very good care of me and our family. I honestly could write pages on everything she does for me, she is very traditional. The only problem, she is very high maintenance, she always has to wear expensive clothes, expensive jewelry, drives an expensive car, and honestly believes no other woman is better then her (but when it comes to sex, that might be true). I have never seen so much pride in a person, it does not affect our marriage, she does not act this way with me, but she turns her nose up to everyone else, and sometimes it's just embarrassing. I'm known to have the "stuck up" wife. Is this something common with Russian women? or maybe just mine?
Also before anyone thinks it, no, shes not a mail order bride. I met her in Russia when I was there as a government contractor, and shes not a young girl. I'm 42 and shes 41.

What is the best website to meet Russian, and/or East European women? I recently ran into a buddy of mine and he married a beautiful and very sweet hearted Russian woman, but he met her on one of his many travels across Europe. And a good friend of mine is also Russian and her accent drives me wild. Also, I have found the Russian women I have met are not so close-minded about ideas like religion, faith, and even politics. Maybe it's because in their home countries, their government wouldn't let people practice independent thinking for many years. So when they hear of ideas like going to Church each week, or other ideas, they don't immediately get defensive with their already personnaly held opinions. Also, drop-dead gorgeous Russian women don't have the "I'm too good-looking for you" snotty attitude that some American women have. The Russian girls I have met are beautiful, but also they have super nice personalities. Has any other guy noticed this, or is it just me and the East European girls that I have met?

My mother died 5 months ago. and my dad is ready to move on already. He is 72 years old and met a woman on line through a mail order bride. she is 36 years old. MY AGE!! She is from the UK and is Russian. She is coming to America to stay with my dad and if it works out they are going to get married. He informed me that they have been talking for 3 months now on the internet. And never spoke on the phone. I am afraid for him because sometimes people aren't who they say they are. And I told him all my feelings about how I feel about what he is doing. And he said that us kids gave him enough gray hair and now it is his turn. And that I did not respect him. And he wanted someone young with no health problems . And that she is a beautiful princess , Woman of his dreams which hurt me to hear because he was with my mother for 46 years. What kind of example is he setting for them and his other 16 grand children whom are mostly under age but are old enough understand. my children said YOU BETTER NOT CALL HER MOM AND WE ARE NOT CALLING HER GRANDMA!!

My husband is being very abusive and I do knot speak English very well. My husband made first contact to me on the internet when I was living in Georgia. There was a website were women looking for husbands can go and you can get into contact with men from other countries. I was trying to come to America and I filled out a visa application and I started talking to him. When I got my visa to come to America I met him and we moved in together. I got a job and he was nice to me at first. I worked all the time and I made alot of friends. I worked at center for Russian seniors in San Francisco I liked it alot. Then I got married and he made me quit my job and he told me that since he is my husband I have to do what he says all the time. I became a citizen on last year and I love America but I do knot like the way my husband has treated me since we got married. We have only been married for 5 months and we have a little boy who is 5 weeks old. I do knot want him to have a abusive father. I do not want him to be abused too. My husband hits me and he makes me cry with saying bad things to me.
I told him I was going to leave him and he said if I leave him he will contact the police and I can go to jail because I met him through a service online. He said that is called "mail order bride" and that makes me a whore. I am so confused because I thought whore means prostitute and I am knot one of those. I never had sex for money .
He said that I can go to jail and be sent back to Georgia and I will have knot more citizenship. I don't want to lose my son or go back to Georgia
I can knot leave him if this is true. Can someone tell me if this is true?
I want to leave him, I can get help from my Russian friends but I can not talk to them because he takes my cellphone. I have a job and I can support my baby if I can get him in jail. I work at a Russian bakery now.
I did not marry him for citizenship I was already a citizen when I married him. I came to this country 7 years ago and I applied for citizenship 6 years ago and it took 5 years to get. I have been with my husband as his girlfriend for a long time for 7 years we lived together he was very good to me until 5 months ago when we got married

I am married to a very beautiful and very wonderful Russian lady, and before you think it, no she was not a mail order bride. Many years ago, I took a international job and I worked and lived in Russia for 16 months, in a city called Vladivostok. When I was in Russia, I was shocked at these women, they were all very beautiful and very feminine, but at the same time, very hard working, very resilient, and most of all, very traditional. The difference between American women and Russian women is the same as night and day. To a Russian woman, her family comes first, she will take very good care of her husband, her children, and her home. You have to understand, it's what they believe. I can't even begin to tell you how great she takes care of me and our home.
My first wife was a American woman and after the divorce I was single for 7 years and during that time, I dated many women. They all were the same, very independent, they always made it clear to me they don't need a man. Very spoiled, most everything had to be her way and expects the man to do half the house work (if not more), very out spoken, and very stubborn. I'm not saying there is not a American woman with no traditional values, but I am saying, I have never met one.
After we arrived in the USA, my wife was really surprised at the women here. First she was surprised how some looked going out in public, sweat paints, hair up, and no make up, you will never see that in Russia. Then she heard a wife can say her husband raped her, she was shocked by this, my wife says a husband has rights to his wife's body. In Russia when the husband wants sex from his wife, he just takes it. Also when she arrived here, was the first time in her life she heard of a woman not swallowing during oral sex. She asked me "How does a American women keep a husband?"
I could write many more difference's, these women are unbelievable. We have been happily married for many years and still going srtong. The men that I hear talking bad about foreign wives, it's just because you simply don't know. The women that talked bad about foreign wives, well, I guess you have every reason to.
To Larkspur, it's been 10 years now, and she still doesn't like American women. She says American men has let their women get away from them. She grew up during Soviet times, and she still believes in those ways. Is that so difficult for you to understand?

be careful if you ever get a mail order bride, I don't know a single word of Russian plus I think this one sprung a leak too

Would it be fair that after an American man murder his mail order bride, his three American born children are living in Russia with there Russian grand mother when there American father is in jail serving a life sentence for murdering there mother. Those children are duel US/Russian children.
